It works by killing the fungi which cause athlete's foot and provides relief from itching, burning and scaling which may accompany this condition. Lamisil Cream should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver problems or who are over 60 years of age. It may cause a skin peeling which can be dangerous as the skin is often covered with a gauze which can look white and brown on the outside. The cream should not be used if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Lamisil Cream should not be used in children or in those who are taking other medicines containing tinea pedis, Candida or Poncinex. It may be necessary to adjust the dose of other medicines used for athlete's foot including anti-fungal medicines, antibiotics and other medicines with antifungals such as ketoconazole and itraconazole. Patients with a known sensitivity to tinea pedis, Poncinex or ketoconazole should also be examined. Patients should also be advised to seek medical advice if they have any unexplained skin peeling or burning, any other unusual bruising or bleeding, a skin rash or any other signs of infection such as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, sore or clogged skin, itching, irritation, redness or skin rash that is not limited to the tinea pedis area.
